Choosing a Culinary Program
- Baking & Pastry. Baking involves more than just popping bread in the oven. The Baking & Pastry program teaches you the subtleties of presentation and taste coordination with respect to a wide variety of breads and desserts. The Illinois Institute of Art--Chicago prepares entry-level bakers with the skills that employers demand.
- Culinary Arts. Prepare to learn the contemporary concepts of the industry--quality food preparation and business savvy in one comprehensive program. Predominant lessons include sanitation and safety, nutrition, kitchen management, menu and beverage management, and cost control.
- Culinary Management. If your career plans include moving from the cooking line to the manager's office, the Culinary/Restaurant Management program can get you there. Immerse yourself in instruction that includes financial management, communications, accounting, leadership, management, marketing, and employee relations. Upon program completion, you'll be prepared to pursue entry-level at various restaurants.
