Ah, culinary finals are behind me for the time being. I have successfully completed my first level courses with a 4.0 GPA, and I’m really proud of myself; I worked my butt off, reading, studying, practicing, and my GPA is, if I do say so myself, well deserved.

Thank you to all of the Chef2Chef.net chefs and foodies who helped with many of my culinary questions along the way. I really appreciate the time you took to help me out!

Next semester begins second level courses. I’ll be taking two courses: Quantity Food Cookery II, and Classical Cuisine. I hear the chef for Quantity has a disgusting mouth, so it should be an interesting semester. I have no problem telling a Chef to shut it when they’re being a disgusting pig, no matter how high their rank.

My marketing position ends in two weeks and I’ll be unemployed for the first time in years and years. It’s scary. I went to the Disney Casting office this morning to apply for a cook position and they turned me away, if you can believe it. There are absolutly no cook positions available, and I don’t qualify for a salaried sous chef position yet. Bummer. I also applied at the Ritz. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll keep trying other high-end resorts. Maybe Whole Foods, too.

I’m praying that a food blog or food business fairy will float down within the next two weeks and offer me a full time food writing position. That’s my ultimate goal and dream job. In the meantime, I’ve been doing lots of freelance food writing, editing and video production, which I’m loving – so much fun!!

So, the calm before the storm…I’m going to take a few days to relax and enjoy the holiday with my family. Then, it’s back to school and continuing the job search.

BTW, if anyone is hiring, I can start immediately!
