FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ST LUCIA, April 1, 2005–Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort’s Culinary Director, Chef Bobo Bergstrom, will present his intriguing fusion of European and Caribbean food– which he has named “Eurobbean cuisine” at the legendary James Beard Foundation in New York, April 8. The James Beard Foundation is a Mecca for the finest chefs, food writers and cookbook authors as well as restaurateurs from around the world.

“A dinner at the James Beard House is indeed an unequaled culinary achievement. We are proud of the creativity and excellence of Chef Bobo,” noted Anthony Bowen, General Manager of Windjammer Landing. “The Beard Foundation is a showcase for the finest in the culinary arts.”

Bobo Bergstrom, Director of Culinary Services at Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort, in 2003 was awarded Caribbean Chef of the Year and a Gold Medal at the “Taste of the Caribbean” competition. This is the annual event for the development and refinement of Contemporary Caribbean Cuisine, sponsored by the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA), the Caribbean Culinary Federation (CCF) and others.

As part of Chef Bobo’s team at the Beard Foundation dinner are Gilry Samuel, Chief Pastry Chef at Windjammer Landing, also a winner at the “Taste of the Caribbean” competition in 2003. And Chef Wayne Jules, long-standing Windjammer chef, is another member of the Beard event team.

Born in Sweden, Chef Bobo trained in Bern, Switzerland, was chef de cuisine for the Swedish royal family at the Operakallaren in Stockholm, and cooked for a host of hotels in Europe and the Caribbean before becoming Culinary Director of Windjammer Landing in St. Lucia. He is responsible for all five restaurants at Windjammer Landing and is dedicated to promoting the Caribbean’s indigenous ingredients–adapting the strict European background of his training to incorporate the home-cooking techniques of the islands.

Windjammer Landing is the perfect village for vacations, weddings and honeymoons -- for anyone who wants a great vacation on one of the most beautiful islands.
