HOT TURKEY SOUPS WARM AND COMFORT
NTF presents a wide variety of delicious soups and stews

WASHINGTON D.C. - November 2005 - With winter just around the corner, there is nothing better than a steaming, comforting soup or stew to warm away the chill of a cold day. The National Turkey Federation (NTF) offers chefs more than 60 soups and stews to choose from on EatTurkey.com to add to their menus. All feature delicious turkey products simmered to perfection with compatible flavors.

"Soups and stews are a natural choice for the cold weather and turkey is the perfect primary ingredient," comments Sherrie Rosenblatt, NTF's senior director of marketing and communication. "Turkey's versatility makes it the perfect ingredient for a wide variety of soups from gumbo to bouillabaisse to chowder to traditional stock soup."

Creamy Turkey Soup is a recipe favorite among foodservice operators when the weather becomes colder. This recipe consistently ranks among the top recipes viewed on the EatTurkey.com recipe database. The recipe combines cubed turkey with turkey broth, milk, celery, onions and thyme. It's a classic soup that is simple yet delicious.

Foodservice operators can search through over 60 soup and stew recipes, many of which are also chef-developed. Just select "Foodservice," "700 Recipes," and then browse through the recipe database by "soups/stews" under "Meal Type." Chef Mark Martin's Smoked Turkey and Wild Rice Soup with Dried Cherries is a delicious combination of turkey, wild rice, Madeira, chopped vegetables and tart cherries. Operators could also try menuing Chef Martin Saylors' Turkey and Corn Chowder En Croute that uses turkey to lighten up a creamy soup. It also includes corn, chestnuts, potatoes and celery.
