NTF stays on trend by offering recipes for delicious turkey Cuban sandwiches

WASHINGTON D.C. - October 2005 - More chains are reporting the incidence of Cuban sandwiches on their menus compared to six years ago according to Food BeatTM, a company that provides in-depth menu analysis. Chain and casual dining segments such as Breugger's Bagels, Atlanta Bread and Bahama Breeze all offer their own version of the Cuban favorite. The National Turkey Federation (NTF) continues to stay ahead of trends by offering recipes for Cuban Sandwiches that use turkey.

With the growing demand for ethnic cuisine coupled with the convenience of portable sandwiches for lunch or light dinners, it is clear to see why foodservice operators are expanding their menus to include these delicious turkey sandwiches.

"Turkey can effortlessly capture the taste of ethnic flavors," comments Sherrie Rosenblatt, NTF's senior director of marketing and communications. "By choosing turkey as an ingredient for a sandwich traditionally reserved for pork, operators can offer customers a healthier version of the meal they crave without sacrificing flavor."

EatTurkey.com offers a Havana Spiced Turkey Sandwich that combines a marinade of chili powder, dark brown sugar, tomatoes and cayenne with turkey that is portioned on Cuban bread loaves and topped with Queso Fresco cheese. Operators could also choose to serve a warm crusty Cuban Turkey Panini, also offered on EatTurkey.com. This recipe delivers spiced turkey breast sliced and served with pickles and Swiss cheese on crusty bread.

With tastes broadening from Asia and Spain to Cuba, the National Turkey Federation is continually adding new trendy ethnic recipes to its recipe database. Both delicious recipes can be found on EatTurkey.com by selecting the foodservice tap then clicking on the recipe tab.
