PARRANO NAMED WORLD’S BEST GOUDA
FIRST RUNNER UP FOR WORLD CHAMPION CHEESE
March 28, 2006. Parrano won ‘Best in Class’ for Gouda and was First Runner Up for World Champion Cheese at the 2006 World Championship Cheese Contest. Attracting a record 1,792 entrants from 18 countries, the Contest took place March 21-23 in
Madison, Wisconsin. It is the largest cheese and butter making competition in the world.
Parrano distinguishes itself from the competition by combining the pliant texture of a Dutch Gouda with a unique, nutty flavor similar to that of aged parmesan. It is easy to shred, slice and melt and adds full flavor to any dish.
Selected from of dozens of entrants to win the Gouda class, Parrano earned First Runner Up among all cheeses in the final round of judging with a score of 98.05. Prizes will include a gold medal for the ‘Best in Class’ distinction and a trophy for being World Cheese Champion First Runner Up.
