Want to taste how the other half of the world barbecues? Then join the BBQ QUEENS, Karen Adler and Judith Fertig, on a barbecue tour of Argentina from February 3 to 12 (summer in South America). From big city restaurants in the very European-style Buenos Aires to open pit "asado" or grilling at gaucho ranches or "estancias," you'll put the shimmy in your chimichurri sauce and let your taste buds tango (you can even try that sultry dance at tango clubs – work off all that asado!).
Did you know that on the pampas or prairie of Argentina, the male gauchos ride the range, while the women do the grilling? Learn their secrets and more as you add a little Latin sizzle to your backyard barbecue repertoire on this insider's trip to a fascinating country.
We'll travel through various gaucho regions of the country. From Buenos Aires, the capitol of tango, to Tierra del Fuego and Ushuaya at the gateway to Antarctica, and from the Iguazu Falls in the North to the Mendoza wine region at the foothills of the Andean Mountains. In each historic and romantic estancia or country estate, our group will eat, learn, observe and practice the art of gaucho asado – as well as other gaucho activities, like drinking mate, doing the tango, and riding horseback. In addition, the group will experience a thorough immersion into the culture, ecology and people of the regions.
The five-star, gourmet tour leaves February 3 and returns February 12, 2006. If you’re interested in participating, or for more information about this exciting trip, please contact Dr. Hune Margulies via e-mail at cdpa@cdpa-americas.org or by phone at 914-439-7731.
