50 Cooking Instructors to Follow on Twitter

If you're interested in what culinary instructors have to say and share, consider following a few or several on Twitter. You'll gain numerous recipes; cooking tips for various types of cuisine; information on food movements, cookbooks and blogs; access to stunning food photos and videos; awareness and discussion of food topics in the news; an insight into the lives of these professionals and lots more. We've created a list of the Top 50, based on their tweeting frequency, tweet content and quality, and culinary schools. Here they are:

• @90210farmgrl, Dana Slatkin: Known as the "Beverly Hills Farmgirl" because she founded the city's farmers' market, Dana tweets about food and monthly giveaways and often provides recipes. She's a chef, private cooking instructor and author of "Summertime Anytime."

• @ACulinaryJrney, Dennis Littley, Flik Independent School Dining: Follow Dennis for dinner ideas, his favorite dishes, vintage recipe swaps and more. He's a New Jersey chef, food blogger, photographer and recipe developer who teaches high school girls about food.

• @BevShaffer, Bev Shaffer, Cuyahoga Community College: Also a chef and author, Bev specializes in "calming food phobias with signature humor and style." From Ohio, she posts about upcoming classes, dining experiences, food-related events, what's she's cooking and eating.

• @chefemilyp, Emily Peterson, Astor Center: This New York City-based food blogger -- "The Gourmand & The Peasant" -- tweets about what she's cooking, restaurants and food-related articles.

• @chefheidifink, Heidi Fink: Heidi's tweets contain links to recipes, her thoughts about food and information about classes. This foodie and writer who loves to help people learn to cook teaches cooking classes at various locations in British Columbia.

• @CookingClemente, Nina Clemente: Nina's a personal chef, caterer and private cooking instructor in Los Angeles. She tweets about restaurants, meals she eats, genetically modified organism (GMO) foods and Giants football.

• @CookingwithNina, Nina Swan-Kohler, Cooking in the Kitchen with Nina: Nina's tweets are about what she's up to as it relates to food, like judging chili cook-offs, hosting dinners and teaching classes. • @DebiShawcross, Debi Shawcross, Signature Menus: This Richmond, Va.-based chef instructor and author of "Friends at the Table: The Ultimate Supper Club Cookbook" posts recipes, tips for family gatherings and information about classes, giveaways and ingredients shopping.

• @diane_morgan, Diane Morgan, In Good Taste Cooking School: Diane tweets on average about once per day, covering recipes, books and restaurants. She's also a cookbook author, freelance food writer and food writing instructor.

• @ElainaLove, Elaina Love, Pure Joy Academy: Follow Elaine for information on upcoming classes, recipes, what she's eating, food events she'll be at and cooking tips. She's a raw gourmet foods instructor at a Patagonia, Ariz., culinary academy that offers raw, vegan chef certifications.

• @FarinaKingsley, Farina Kingsley, Tante Marie's Cooking School: An international culinary instructor, chef and cookbook author, Farina has released an app, "Farina's Asian Pantry," designed to demystify Asian cooking at home. Located in Singapore, she tweets about her books, cooking videos and app, what's she's eating for dinner, what's in her Asian pantry, food, wine and more.

• @Foodforager, Jeffrey Bergman: Jeffrey shares his food experiences and travels via his tweets, with lots of photos of dishes. He's a trained chef, culinary teacher and consultant who's always on the hunt for the best ingredients.

• @foodinyourface, Chris Jess, Food School: Chris runs a high school culinary arts program in Fergus, Ontario, and is a slow food leader. His tweets are related to slow foods, his cooking demonstrations, meals being prepared at his student-run café and what he's up to careerwise.

• @foodpostink, Melanie Cecilio, Institute of Culinary Education; Haven's Kitchen: Melanie is a culinary teacher, recipe developer and blogger who documents food, places and people in the world via words and pictures. She tweets primarily about cooking classes, restaurants and her blog.

• @insatiablefood, Andrea Buckett, Loblaws PC Cooking Schools: In Toronto, Andrea tweets about food, what's happening in her life and pop culture. A retired homeopath, she's a food writer and blogger and recipe developer.

• @julienegrin, Julie Negrin: A private cooking instructor, Julie has interest in nutrition and cooking with children (she authored "Easy Meals to Cook with Kids"). She's a blogger and tweeter, posting recipes and blurbs on healthy foods, good nutrition and food topics in the news.

• @lesacooks, Lesa Sullivan, PCC Natural Markets, Pacific Culinary Studio, FareStart: This personal chef and private cooking instructor in the Seattle area tweets about her classes and news topics.

• @LisaAMuse, Lisa Paul, Dish Cooking Studio: A self-described "impressive eater," impeccable host and freelance writer, Toronto-based Lisa tweets about restaurants, produce and meals she's having.

• @MarcheDimanche, Hillary Davis, Halladay's Harvest Barn Inn: Hillary is a voluminous tweeter, posting about food, recipes and items on pinterest. She's a food writer/blogger, cooking instructor and recipe developer based in New Hampshire and France.

• @MicheleScicolon, Michele Scicolon, The New School Culinary Center: The Institute for Culinary Education; Sur La Table; and others. Follow Michele for info on slow cooking, restaurants, upcoming food events she's involved in, recipes and what she's cooking. She's authored several cookbooks, including "The French Slow Cooker" and "The Italian Slow Cooker."

• @nicolaiwinkler, Nicolai Winkler: Nicolai's tweets contain food-related photos and videos and are about wine, food and cooking preparations, which is consistent with his being a chef, mixologist, food writer and wine advocate. He's based in San Diego.

• @NikSnacks, Nikki Miller-Ka, Best Health: A frequent tweeter, often several times a day, Nikki also is a food blogger and writer ("I bite it and write it," she says), culinary instructor and @tastecarolina tour guide.

• @PeterBerley, Peter Berley, Institute of Culinary Education; Natural Gourmet Institute: Peter's tweets focus on upcoming food workshops and organic food and often contain links to food photos and videos. In New York City, he's the author of "The Flexitarian Table," "The Modern Vegetarian Kitchen" and "Fresh Food Fast."

• @PraneeHalvorsen, Pranee Halvorsen, I Love Thai Cooking: To learn more about Thai food, Thai cooking and Thai ingredients, follow Pranee. A Thai food expert based in both Seattle and Phuket, she's not surprisingly a culinary instructor of cooking Thai food and chef.

• @RoxanneWyss, Roxanne Wyss, A Thyme For Everything: Roxanne tweets about food, cookbooks, recipes and food-related events. She's a cookbook author, cooking school teacher, food consultant, writer and one of the two "Electrified Cooks."

• @sandralatinista, Sandra Gutierrez, A Southern Season in Chapel Hill: A self-described "Culinary Latinista," Sandra is a culinary instructor, food writer and author of "The New Southern-Latino Table." She tweets frequently, typically about her classes, her cookbooks, her book tour and recipes.

• @sansturbot, Roberto Navarro Lagarda, Culinaria Pangea: Roberto, a cook and culinary instructor, tweets several times a day, primarily in Spanish. He's based in Monterrey, Mexico.

Creator of "Sticky, Gooey, Creamy, Chewy," "a blog about food with a little life stirred in," she's a freelance writer, food columnist and cooking instructor and creator in Sarasota, Fla.

• @tempeh9, Nettie Cronish, The Big Carrot: This author of "Everyday Flexitarian," a book for vegetarians and meat lovers, tweets about food and cooking classes and offers cooking tips and recipes. She's also a natural and organic foods chef in Toronto.
