Chinese Five Spice Brown Butter Sauce Recipe

This sauce adds an interesting flavor twist to salmon or chicken.


  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp. Chinese five spice powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pink peppercorns


  1. Place the butter in a sauté pan over medium heat.
  2. Continue to cook until the foam subsides and the milk solids begin to turn a nutty brown color.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the five spice powder, the salt and the peppercorns. Serve immediately.
